A Summer Clerkship in ENT (ASCENT)

In response to the need for earlier exposure to the field of otolaryngology (ENT) during medical school we have created A Summer Clerkship in ENT (ASCENT), a 4-week program for students who have completed their first year of medical school at the UAMS College of Medicine. This program will be modeled after the M4 ENT elective with clinical rotations and shadowing at UAMS and Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH). In addition to clinical ENT experience, students will be paired with an Otolaryngology faculty mentor with whom they will start a research project and learn more about the academic aspect of ENT. Students will be required to give a short presentation on the otolaryngology topic of their choice at the end of the 4-week program. Because this is an educational experience, no stipends will be offered.

Who: Students who have completed their M1 year in the UAMS College of Medicine.

When: June 3 – 28, 2019

Email completed application in MS Word or PDF format to Otolaryngology Director of Research, Dr. Deanne King at Dking3@uams.edu by Monday March 25, 2019.
